Backstage Rumor on Jeff Hardy's Arrest

Backstage Rumor on Jeff Hardy's Arrest

A highly unconfirmed and highly explosive rumor on the Jeff Hardy arrest has been floating around the WWE lockerroom in recent weeks.

According to ProWrestling.net, the source of the story, the rumor claims that Hardy was essentially “caught” accepting a package that had been flagged prior to delivery.

The rumor claims that police had flagged a package that was shipped to Hardy’s home. When Hardy brought the package into his home, he essentially signaled to police that a raid was justified–the search and arrest soon followed.

Those buying into the rumor note that Hardy claims he had no idea what was in the package, believing it to be related to a business venture with a partner from outside North Carolina.

This explosive rumor has not been confirmed; all that has been officially stated on what led to Hardy’s arrest is that police were acting on a tip when they searched the former WWE World Champion’s home.

At press time, Hardy is said to be in good spirits and very confident that he will be largely vindicated as a result of the court proceedings. Hardy next appears in court on the matter on November 4.

Despite his arrest on drug charges last month, World Wrestling Entertainment is still moving forward on their planned DVD release on Jeff Hardy. Production is ongoing and the title is tentatively scheduled for release in December.

Hardy was arrested on September 11, 2009 on charges of trafficking in controlled prescription pills and possession of anabolic steroids after a search of his Raleigh, North Carolina residence yielded 262 Vicodin prescription pills, 180 soma prescription pills, 555 milliliters of anabolic steroids, a residual amount of powder cocaine, and drug paraphernalia.

Stone Cold Talks About Jeff Hardy

Stone Cold Talks About Jeff Hardy

Steve Austin sat down recently with Wrestlecast from The UK Sun to discuss a various range of topics.

On Jeff Hardy:
“I called him a while back and talked to him,” he said. “He’s a good looking kid, he’s got a really unique style, people love him, he has his own kind of charisma. I wish he could put it all together and get his personal demons behind him… He got caught with a lot of stuff and we’ll see what happens.”

He said he’s reached out to wrestlers before who he heard had issues with drug abuse or addiction. “I’ve called a few guys when I hear some of them getting into problems,” he said. “I try to give my two cents to the situation. They’ll all swear that everything is cool, it turns out things aren’t cool. [Vince McMahon] has offered to pay for rehab for anybody who wants it. Some people have taken him up on it, some people haven’t. I get made when people point the finger at Vince and say it’s his fault. It’s not his fault. He’s a third generation promoter who runs a wrestling company. I take responsibility for all my actions. I think everybody should. I refuse to think that it’s Vince McMahon’s fault for any of this.”

He said Jeff Hardy has created challenges for WWE, because he’s so popular and talented, yet there’s a risk with pushing him as much as they might like to otherwise. He said the recent arrest just accentuates their need to be cautious with him over the years.

“Man. This last thing I just heard about the other day when I was driving back from Texas to L.A.,” he said. “They never gave that guy a full green light push, but you can’t keep him down. All the calamity and trouble he gets into, but people love him. If they ever fully gave him a green light push, who knows what would happen? But you can’t do that because you don’t know what he’s going to do because all of a sudden you have all of this time and money invested and then he screws up. So who knows what’s going to come out of it, if he’s going to do time or whatever. He has some serious stuff going against him.”

Jeff Hardy still a top seller for WWE

Jeff Hardy still a top seller for WWE

Jeff Hardy has remained the top merchandise seller in WWE despite being off television and done with the company since late August reports The Wrestling Observer Newsletter. ShopWWE.com is still featuring a big section for his merchandise at this link. As reported on earlier, Hardy's case has been pushed to another hearing on November 4 in a request by the prosecution. This has caused many on Hardy's side to believe they don't have enough to build a case around. There is also nothing new to report on his planned reality show series as everything is on hold until his next hearing.
